Diamond and Pearl have the most Pokemon being able to be caught within the 2 games together with 445 Pokemon. Each game has 425 Pokemon within it so you can get a fair amount of Pokemon without trading or using the Pal Park.
Even though you can get so many Pokemon in these games, there are still 48 Pokemon you must send to your games through Pal Park. You need to send that Pokemon or 1 of it's evolution line and breed to get it.
