Priority moves are moves that make you go 1st no matter of how fast or slow you are. Priority Moves' bass power range from 40 - 80. These moves and change the tide in battle or stop you or your opponent from sweeping.
Some Priority Moves are used to stop some pacific Pokemon like Garchomp and weakened Gyarados. Some Pokemon are used as late game sweepers because of these moves.
Some teams have to use stop Pokemon (such as Gyarados) after setting up and having like 10HP left sweeping you. These moves really help you to win in tight situations.
Here are all of the Priority Moves
As I said before, Priority Moves are used to counter some Pokemon that hard hard to KO once they have set up on you. So heres a little Warstory that shows you how they can do a lot!
This battle has all ready been started and the scores are 5-3 to Moody. Smee only has his Arcanine, Blissey and 25% HP Weavile. While Moody has a Gyarados that has got in 6 Dragon Dances, but it's only at 14% HP. Almost of Moody's Pokemon have had a beating from Smee's Weavile and Garchomp, as they hit hard till Garchomp got KOed by a Bronzong's Explosion and his Gyarados came out. Gyarados took a beating from his now KOed Forretress that hit hard with Gyro Balls. Smee will surely lose since none of his Pokemon are faster then Gyarados or can take his powered hits.

Arcanine used Extremespeed!
Gyarados lost 14% of health!
Gyarados fainted!
By Arcanine using a Priority Move, Arcanine managed to KO Gyarados and go on to KO his half beat team. It shows how much 1 move (and Priority Moves) can change a game all around and maybe make you win or lose the match.
