Like in most Pokemon games, D/P has some fossils that can be turned into Pokemon! But in D/P, there are different ways to get them compared to the past generations.
In the past generations, you find fossils somewhere and give them to a scientist and he will make it come to life, and you could only revive one or two. In the new Diamond and Pearl games, you can get a lot more then just one.
When you go to the Underground and you dig at the Wall you might find a fossil. In Pearl you will find the Armor Fossil and in Diamond you will find the Skull fossil. And After you get National Dex, you can get all of the Fossils from past generations (Dome, Helix, Old Amber, Claw and Root fossils).
Once you have got the fossil, you can now head to Oreburgh City and in a big Museum like building, is the guy that will revive your fossil. When you revive a fossil it will be at level20.
In this game and unlike others, you can get more then 1 fossil. So you can get like 54 Kabutos if you want.
